We have compiled a list of resources for navigating a dementia diagnosis or caring for a loved one with dementia:
- The Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute (WAI) created a comprehensive guide on medical issues, including swallowing issues, associated with moderate to severe dementia. The guide is available to download here (please submit a quick login form to view the guide).
- WAI also has a list of resources for caregivers
- The National Institute on Aging has numerous articles on a variety of topics related to taking care of someone with dementia.
- The National Foundation of Swallowing Disorders created a Caregiver’s Guide to Dysphagia in Dementia.
- NFOSD Virtual Swallowing Support Group for patients and caregivers. Caregivers are welcome to attend with or without their partner.
